I wish I had known...
There is a lot of group work in every course which is sometimes difficult as you can't choose the persons you work with.
The busses often don't go every hour. So you are really dependent on the times.

I enjoyed the life there. But some of the courses are rather boring. The topic is interesting but the teachers just make it a bit boring. But, I'd say: choose the courses that sound interesting to you and hope the best.

For travelling in France, there is the 12 - 25 card in France. It costs about 40 euros and then you get a reduction of 25 to 50% for train tickets. If you plan to travel a lot this is really useful.

Go there, you will have a lot of fun, especially if you stay in a student's residence but don't expect too much from the courses especially if you are used to good quality of the courses , you sometimes might be disappointed.

Travel tips: Lyon is the perfect starting point for making trips: 2h you are in paris on the cote d'Azur, in the mountains, Switzerland... 4h Milan, 6h Barcelona...
Helpful advice: when you arrive try to get to know some host university students because they can tell you everything. There's also an association called "Opening" which is mainly responsible for exchange students, so you also can go there if you need to know something...

If you want to greatly improve your language then firstly it is vital to live with local people and speak in a foreign language. Secondlt take as many courses in the local language as you can, they are not really that hard to pass and will definately help improve your language ability. Otherwise read lots of newspapers, watch a lot of tv and speak to as many people as you can. !

The same as above, live with locals, Le Gallion and the Le Drakhar are great meeting international students and having easy access to the campus. But for going out and visiting Lyon they are a nightmare and you wont really improve your french by lving there

Try not to fall a sleep during the classes. In Sweden we are used to 2 * 45 minutes but here it is 1.30 * 2... But you get used to it! Try to make friends wtih French students, they are really nice and you will have a great time with them. Dont be scared of being laughed at when you speak french. The French likes it when you make an effort to speak their language!! join the wine club and go on the trips the arrange, this is great fun!!!

DO NOT go to the residence offered by the school, there you will meet only foreigners, what it is great, but you rather meet local people, and then later on foreigners, why not.
