Back in september when I arrived my french was worse then I thought. I always liked the language, and in Holland I normally got good grades. But now, ten months later, I do see improvement. With the french students I speak more french. I also notice during the courses that I understand the teacher much better. Only when I have to arrange administratative things, I find it still quit hard.

In the beginning I was afraid to make mistakes. When the contact with the French students grew, my French is improving and the fear is gone. It is just not an automatism yet, but the year is not over yet.

I've always spoke on French with the local students but between the international student's community the main language was English.
