Food: 1. Lived at home back home, 2. Food is overall more expensive in the US than in Austria, especially cheese, cold cut and produce. Telephone: Conventional telephone network within Atlanta is free, only non-Atlanta and cell-phone-calls cost extra. Housing: 1. Lived at home back home, 2. Campus dorms are not cheap! Travel: Hardly travel at home; abroad I wanted to travel as much as possible.

Personal comments
Surprises: Books are really expensive. Savings: 1. When traveling with plane: Book way ahead, flights are almost always cheaper then and use websites like www.expedia.com, 2. Try to get second hand books, 3. Bank: Bank of America: Free students account, only big cost there (so beware): withdrawal costs 2$ every time, so try to withdrawal money as often as possible from bank facility itself (no cost).

First, on-Campus housing was pretty expensive at Emory. Moreover, usually I do not travel that much like I did during my exchange semester.

The Dollar - EURO exchange rate was very unfavourable at that time, so everything was much more expensive. Actually, I am confident to say that food, nightlife and accomodation were twice as expensive as at home!
