Why?
Because it is just near from the other students that are on their own in the city and it´s easier to meet new people. Futhermore, if you have a strange Schedule, you can always go home and then again to the university, without time wasting.

Personal comments
I lived there in three different houses, two of them where given from the host university, I found the third one (when I was independent student). They where really different: the first one was in the town, 30 minutes from the university but in the Town centre, the second one was a five-rooms-appartment in the campus and the third one an individual appartment in the campus. I just can say, I had good luck with my neighbours and didn´t have any problem.
