At home I used my phone more than in Istanbul.
And travelling, especially the accomodation can be very cheap sometimes.

Housing proved to be more expensive than i thought, especially if you want to live close to the city center. Also if you're staying longer than 3 months in Turkey, you have to get a residence permit. This costs about 60€ every 6 months, depending what your home country is. It's better just to leave the country every 3 months and come back with a tourist visa every time (only 10€, for me), valid for 3 months. You just have to cross the Turkish border and come back.
