To my knowledge, the Jonkoping university is the only Swedish university where English is the language of instruction. Doing your daily business in the university should not be problem if you speak it and administrational problems are easily solved. But also outside the university community you will be understood. Even bus drivers and cashiers in the supermarkets speak it. (Swedish TV ist partly in English so if you are a TV junkie you won't miss your favourite leisure activity.)

I learnt Swedish for five months at the University. Only two months was compusary. If you want to learn the language break away from the internmational students and hang around with Swedes. I lived with an Italian who couldnt speak much english to start with but picked it up very quickly. A great place to go to learn English!

I passed the Swedish Language and Culture exam but didn't really speak much of it as I hung out with the INternational STudents all the time and we spoke English to each other. Besides, the local students were fluent in English and we had no problem communicating in English

I have studied English for a long time, but I was not fluent because of the big differences between my mother tongue and English. However, I am improving now and I am trying to learn more. Hopefully, my skill would be improved.

Everyone in Sweden can speak basic English, as well as the INternational students from all over the world. There are opportunities to talk it and also alot of the Swedish Natives will help to pronouce words correctly if needed

It was a great opportunity to improve my language skills and to check my communication abilities in life. Living and studying with other international students gave me possibility to practise English, German and Swedish.
