In overall, a good school to study at.

Business Studies, 2024
Overall
Karel de Grote Hogeschool is an institution with some interesting options to study in. For example, I study Business management with the specialization in international entrepreneurship. The over atmosphere is good and the school provides oppertunities.

Careers
The school provides some internship opportunities, even for the students who want to go abroad. However it is limited.

Karel de Grote Hogeschool review

Business Studies, 2021
Overall
The university college really pinpoints on making you gain professional experience.

In almost all of their study programs it's obligatory to do at least one internship.

It's a really nice option for students who wish to study and work in groups in a problem solving way.

Genuine KdG review
KdG I
Belgium, Graduate
, 2026
Overall
My experience at KdG (Campus Groenplaats) has been frustrating and disappointing.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, I encountered six separate study-progress obstacles. A core course was scheduled in the same semester as my mandatory internship, even though this conflict was known in advance, and my request to resolve it was ignored. I was also forced to redo parts of a French course that I had already passed because the school refused to recognise previously acquired competences.

On top of that, my request to replace the French elective with another relevant elective (such as geopolitics or international relations) was rejected without meaningful consideration. I also asked for a reasonable alternative to the mandatory internship due to personal and neurological difficulties in high-stimuli environments, but this was rigidly refused, with no flexibility shown.

There were also privacy concerns. I discovered that 47 GB of my personal files were stored in a hidden OneDrive folder without my knowledge. Although this was eventually resolved, it seriously undermined my trust. Finally, after months of delays with my study grant, KdG refused to provide even a partial advance, causing unnecessary financial strain and a force majeure situation that disrupted my study progress.

Overall, communication was cold, distant, and dismissive, and I felt that I was not taken into consideration as a student.

REVIEWS BY INTERNS AT Karel de Grote Hogeschool
ABOUT
The Karel de Grote-Hogeschool was founded in 1995 as the result of a merger of 13 Catholic hogescholen in Antwerp all with a long tradition and a reputation of quality. The 12 campuses of the 'KdG'are spread over whole the city of Antwerp.

Due to this merger the Karel de Grote-Hogeschool now is the largest Catholic 'Hogeschool' in Belgium, with around 7.300 students. Those students are really the first concern of this 'hogeschool': the institute has a policy of students' participation and it offers social service and students' guidance.

The Karel de Grote-Hogeschool has six departments or faculties and in four of those only first-cycle undergraduate programmes are offered in three-year full-time courses leading to a basic or Bachelor's degree. First-cycle courses lead to more practical jobs. During training students acquire practical skills. Close contacts with professional reality are essential to the programme.

In two departments, Arts and Engineering, a first-cycle of two years full-time programme is followed by a second cycle of two years. Higher admission terms and the duration of four years result in a higher academic degree or Master's degree. However, students are not trained for conducting scientific research, but rather for applying results to life generally. Therefore the two-cycle courses require close contact with professionals. Students can take a full-time or part-time programme.
