During the first semester I lived in a really big and nice apartment share with 3 other people, but this isn't common at all in Leuven. During my second semester I had to take a room from GLOBISS: if you can avoid it is better. REALLY SMALL ROOM AND REALLY EXPENSIVE.

the housing was ok, but the rooms small and the showers took aeons to get hot water... only one cooker for 20 people which was messy sometimes... great people inhabiting the space!!!

the university has good housing, but they are only for national students or masters and doctoral students. erasmus get help finding housing in private student residences.

Why?
It is fun to talk to the people (students) who also live there and the landlord's are not very strict. The location is usually great and the cost is low.

Housing service only helps students with scholarships.Others like me withour scholarships are supposed to arrange accomodation themselves.The university residences are very good.

Leuven is a good place to feel for the first time that you are completely independent. There are also some student residences which are cool too.
