As other should have mentionned, best student place (and student fares) are Herrgar'n, Flamman and Nationaner Hus. Don't miss Munchen Hoben fest in late August, Intervallen in October and Luciafest the 12th of december.

downtown, Steve's coffee, Nationarnahaus or plata (especially on thursdays).
Sweden is a beautiful country, so everything has to be seen especially the polar cercle in winter. It's also good idea to go to Copenhagen.

was quite easy to communicate with swedes, theyr english is really good and they dont make any effort to switch languages from english to swedish....it helps a lot a foreign student who doesnt know any scandinavian.
