danes speak english but they won't speak it with non danes, only other danes. I was forced to learn a little danish to do things like order food at a restuarant

It was great to live in copenhagen because everybody speaks english very well. Not only in the university but also in the street, when i was doing shopping or asking for my direction.

if you do not speak fluent danish, no dane is willing to speak with you even though they know english. they only speak english to other danes
