The reason to choose norway attended to academic matter rather than local language improvement. As everybody there speaks english it wasn't a problem to communicate but at the same time made it more difficult to learn norwegian. I arrived pretty late to start any course as well, so in the end it was a pitty that i wasn't able to learn it, just some phrases, technic language related to my studies and very basic gramatic rules

Norwegian people, and in particular at higher education life, have good skills in english and so that, comunnication has been quite pleasing. However, comunnication potential is strongly increased if one of the speakers is using his mother tongue. That is the reason why, in my opinion, they should reinforce the resources available for foreigners to learn norwegian, wich exist but could be improved.

All the courses in English All the interactions with exchange students, and even local students in English I had a course to gain basic knowledge in the local language at the beginning of my stay... and I pass the exam. Not really useful since everybody speaks English to you, but interesting to have some basic knowledge

At the beginning it was quite hard, and the fact that everybody speaks English doesn't help to learn Norwegian, but if you want, just don't speak Enlgish and try with Norwegian!

There are intensive Language courses during the summer... they give you a basic knowledge ... then there are also courses during the study periods... forget them, learn by doing ... furthermore don't tell anyone that you speak english, since even rednecks are fluent in english ... and you might never learn as you theoretically don't really need it ...
