I wish I had known...
That here in Finland isn`t so hard weather like it could seems, because I have bought a lot of special winter clothes at home and it wasn`t so needed. More about structure and content of courses in DIME course, because it wasn`t exactly that what I have expected.

DIME course isn`t so much about technical way like IT, but it is mostly about graphic design, photography, movies and nothing about graphics from technical point of view.

Personal spending habits
Food = ca. 10% more expensive than Austria, but if you go to Lidl, or if you know the supermarkets well enough, you dont necessarily have to spend more than at home. Although: Meat, fruits and vegetables are more expensive than in AUT.
Telephone: Bring your phone and buy a simcard here, it's ridiculously cheap! in 5 months i used 30 euros! (but of course there is skype at well:) )
travel: i spent nearly all of my money for travelling: stockholm russia (st.petersburg and moscow), within finland, 5days through norway to northcape.
i just dont travel that much during the semestre at home.
there's lots to see!

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Because there is a lot of other international students and campus is a good place to meet a new people from different culture areas.

Personal comments
I was missing a lounge (common room)where the people could meet, speak and do whatever they want.It is hard to spend all time in one room with your roommate and there isn`t any other place where can you go if you need to have a fun with other people and if your roommate want to sleep or don`t like to be disturbed... Next thing is that it is difficult to meet a new people if everybody is in his/her room. The common room would be very good, because who want to meet people can go there and dont disturb anybody else.

The teachers and the staff are very helpful and friendly. You can go to the computer room even on weekendds, and also use the multimedia lab when you need it. teacher interaction in Finland is very easy going , that is very nice.

The institute of technology has a somewhat small choice of subjects taught in Englishbut there is a wider choice at the nearby business school. It would be great if more topics in english were added. Also, the school has some foreign language courses they could open also for foreign students. Overall, it is very good that they provide education in English.

Tell people in advance about courses in english; organise a kummi for everyone (I had none...), give people information about the city, how to go from the airport to the accommodation, etc. in adavance (maybe through a kummi...).

I had a great time; I met many nice people! Studies have been a little bit disappointing, but I had a nice period of practical training.
Teachers have been flexible and helpful and also the other students. Sometimes the languages differences have been a problem.

Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I have had a lot of opportunities to speak english and improve my language skills. Almost everybody in school is speaking english and lectures was also in english. Also outside of school people usualy understand english and in campus most of communication was in english. I think it is the best way how to improve language if you have to speak this language and use it always and everywhere, because nobody understand your mother language.
