It is a good university but if you want any problems (e.g with your timetable) sorted you really need to do it yourself !

When coming to Finland use Finnair to get a standby ticket to fly from Helsinki to Oulu. You need to be under 25 though. Put money aside to travel to Russia and Estonia. Dont worry about the weather. It does get to -30 at times but its not usually too bad ! Also, it really isnt dark all the time here in the winter, if you are from a northern European country it isnt too different. The sausages here are awful. Really awful.

First thing to do is to buy a bike. it's very helpful since the public transportation is very expensive. they have here in Oulu great bike tracks and you will enjoy your rides. If you come here you must go to North Cape in Norway. It's amazing... Also don't forget to get in touch with the local International Club for students. They have a lot of programs and activities (partys).

Iida Y
Finland, Graduate
Business Studies, 2018
Overall
I started there in 2015, and I am nearly finished with my degree. The school has very professional staff and the courses are designed to give students the required knowledge basis for today's growing international field.

Overall
I like my time in University of Applied sciences, learned a lot, broad but interesting courses, hand on approach, a lot of team work. I feel like I am ahead of many students of my age studying same major at other universities

Main source of funding:
Government assistance
Other sources of funding:
Family
Personal savings
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience
Personal spending habits
Some things, particularly food (at least food that I like) and alcohol are more expensive here than in the UK. The housing, however, was far cheaper... probably half of what I was paying at home, so it evened out.

Personal comments
My computer broke 3 days after arriving and I had to buy a new one. I would advise others to insure their goods as well as themselves - it could have saved me hundreds of pounds/euros!

Personal comments
There are pretty strict rules concerning accomodation on the campus. Basically it's not allowed to do anything what makes noise. Otherwise police is called. There were no facilities for entartainment. So, for example when somobody wants to meet with a lot of people, only choice was to go to city centre.
