Host family living was a financial suprise. I did not expect to pay so much. Also, spanish classes at the Catolica University are rather expensive and not very good. It is much better, for every reason, to try to find a way to live on your own, or with other ecuadorian students and to study spanish in a private school that offers private lessons.

Make sure you apply for a student visa before you enter the country, which means you'll get a residence permit and you won't have to pay the foreigner rates.
