“Generally, I really like my program and course but...”

I have mixed feelings about my experience at RMIT most recently. Generally it's positive – mostly my course coordinators have been very helpful & happy to answer questions as well as supportive & providing interesting course material. My Program Manager has also been extremely supportive, encouraging & happy to assist. However there are clearly some VERY bad eggs. Despite my other course coordinators being very happy with me & saying as much eg 'pleasure to teach' etc, one course coordinator had a lot of difficulty answering questions and justified this as due to my behaviour as being adversarial, using this a reason to withhold results & feedback when I requested a review of marking. Unbelievably, I also received a phone call from the Dean of the area relating to that specific course, intimating that if I was to continue with the review of marking and appeal process which I had initiated, they would pursue me through the RMIT Student Charter for adversarial behaviour, despite the other course coordinators stating the complete opposite. I was so disturbed that I blocked her number. Can you believe it??? I certainly can't.

Points forts
I really like my course, my program manager & most of the course coordinators.
Inconvénients
Rare course coordinators have the potential to be unhelpful, subjective & mess with your marks because they don't like you.

Don't hang out with other exchange students, do all you can to meet locals in the community and go out with them as much as possible! You're there to get away from your home country!

Australia's "culture" wasn't completely different from America, and you really have to hunt to find differences! Take advantage of your surroundings, find an internship instead of taking an extra course, and Talk to strangers! Take lots of pictures!
