I took the Programme International, and maybe I had luck of the draw, but all the people in my course were interesting, the staff were excellent, the administration wasn't too difficult and the classes interesting and NOT too work heavy... VERY GOOD!

I really enjoyed living in my apartement - which was in a lovely neighbourhood, with the Eiffel Tower near by. Further it was nice to meet other French people (neighbours).

housing in Paris is very expensive and tends to be very small. most people rent studios - French people don't like sharing flats, and certainly not bedrooms. if you rent an old servant's room (chambre de bonne/service) you will most likely be sharing a toilet and shower facilities. it is also common for students to rent rooms at the top of six or seven flights of stairs with no lift.
You can find housing in fusac.fr (though this tends to be a bit expensive) and at the American church - you can sometimes get a room in exchange for about 15 hours babysitting a week.

Speaking French was not a problem as I'm half Frenc. But for those who needed it there were classes provided. I also had oppportunity to take German and Russian classes.

To take part in class discussions, if the majority of students are french, you really need to know your stuff - slang, abbreviations, regional accents - you name it!
