Personal comments
There are several areas to go out, in general pubs close at 2 am, nightclubs stay open till dawn. Except some very expensive nightclubs, most of them are small, the atmosphere is tolerant but individualistic. You would rarely meet any agressivity. I preferred to go out in the Marais or in pubs near Bastille/Rue Oberkampf

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I was very lucky to have two housemates, like I used to have in Holland. Living in an apartment is the most independant way for a living, compared to the other possibilities.

I found out that there's a difference in understanding everything but at the same time not being able to express myselves in a way I would do in my native language. Details and expressions are the last step before I'm saying my french is fluent.

Nightlife is really expensive, a tip may be to drink before going out, in case you're an alcohol fanatic. I'm not a saving money expert, so let's not try to be one...

Personal comments
As I'm used to a real academic level with a strong research and empirical approach, I was quite decepted by the naivity and obeissance of the students regarding certain professors statements or certain written material that was offered.
