Overall
Great school with nice environment but with expensive aspects which can make it difficult for off campus living and for reaching location. Overall good school offering a wide diversity of programs.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because off campus housing creates flexibility. Also, a different environment outside the campus life is always a more refreshing experience. It is better to assimilate into and become familiar with life outside campus.

Personal comments
It was okay. The students are only allowed to stay in campus housing for 2 years and are required to move off campus their third and fourth years. Since I wasn't a beginning undergraduate student the accommodation situation didn't affect me as much. Plus the Post-Baccalaureate program at SFU was a one year program. After that I went back to North Carolina then to return the next year to SFU to enroll in the Masters in Publishing program.

I wish I had known...
That it rained so dog gone much. Also, the transit system was awesome. The seabuses and regular transit was A+. It would also have been awesome to know I would meet so many cool people. I do regret not having interacted with enough Canadians. I socially became accustom to Europeans and others from foreign destinations.

Final comments
Meet people of different nationalities to make long life friends and have fun. For the guys, it's great to meet all the women, especially the Europeans. They are great! Oh yeah, don't forget a raincoat, you'll need it.

“Do not recommend if you don't work full time”

Overall
My expirence with SFU has unfortunately been terrible. If you are planning to take full time classes you need to pay around 30$ a day for parking, 150$ a week to attend your classes alone. It is impossible to park off campus because it is on a secluded hill/mountain. The course selection is minimal you can get comfortable with the fact you will most likely not be able to select your required courses in your current term and maybe the term after. The first year science course teachers are always changing. One prof caused me long term stress and panic disorder, medical attention and expenses were needed. It was expected that you learn everything yourself and come to class to review however the teacher would more than often teach things contrary to what the text book taught. This made learning extremely confusing, furthermore his class was behind the tutorials so we were practicing lessons we didn't learn yet in the tutorials. The staff was aware of this but made no effort to adjust. Many students complained so someone was called in to review his teaching methods and no adjustments were made. The class average was failing at the end of the term and he was allowed to teach the next semester as well. The school looks and feel like a prison, you'll find yourself walking all over campus to find a place to sit and study between classes because besides the library and lunch rooms there aren't many big seating areas. Even in the library the seating is extremely limited. If you have classes in the big lecture halls in AQ building you will hear a loud cart rolling through the halls making it difficult to hear the professor because the floor is built in a way that perpetuates loud noises when the cleaning crew tries to do their job. The wifi on campus is terrible however some classes require it to take attendance. There has been multiple times where Ive not been able to connect to the wifi and check into class through iClicker or answer in-class quiz questions. The hallways in the AQ building before and after classes and insanely crowded, you will get stuck and/or rammed with backpacks containing heavy laptops.
