Personal spending habits
I spend more money on food, as the prices are higher in Finland than in Austria, especially on fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, in Austria I went home every weekend and then I did not have to buy any food myself at all. I spend more money on going out, as I just have more time to go out and from an academical point of view I am not at all as busy as I usually am in Austria. I also thought this exchange semester would be a good time to travel around. Overall, including my journey back home via France and Germany to visit friends, I will have been to 8 different countries within 5 months.

For buying food you should go to "LIDL". Although fruits and vegetables are much cheaper there, the quality is much better at any other store. I decided to live a bit healthier and therefore spend more money on proper fruits/vegetables. You can get every kind of discounts when you go travelling, so make sure you have a student card!

For travelling, I wanted to visit many places such as Tallin, Stockholm, Riga, Russia, Norway, and Lappland, hence travelling costs rose. I was phoning to freinds and family in the UK on many occasions, increasing my telephone bill due to international transactions.

The accomodation is so cheap compared with Portsmouth. I was able to save £1100 as a result due to studying abroad.
