“Excellent experience”
Igor P
Netherlands, Undergraduate
Engineering, Aeronautical, 2022
Overall
Courses in the field are challenging but also very thorough and informative. There is a good balance between aero and space parts so that a student gets a whollistic view at the field. Lecturers are engaged and ready to help. Student life around university is also developed, with many students associations open for joining. One disadvantage may be housing which is very difficult to find.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I like to share an apartment or house with other students, so I get more chances to know different kind of people and even more if I'm living abroad.

Personal comments
The housing at TU Delft was controlled by one only company. That got to a sort of monopoly, so they were able to take the decisions they wanted without caring about our opinion. I think it was not good for the exchange students, which didn't know that much about the housing possibilities in Delft and surroundings.

(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
In this country its really easy to travel because of to to the distances and the railway system, in the other hand its a bit expensive. If you have the opportunity try to go to the south and visit Belgium and France(only 7 hours AMS-Paris by bus).

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
In the Netherlands I was able to improve my English, all the lessons were taught in that language and I met lots of people which knew very well how to speak it. I think now I'm able to follow any conversation in English. Moreover, I learnt some Dutch during the year. During this year in Barcelona, I'm still learning Dutch and, even if it's still difficult to have conversations, I can understand quite a lot out while reading or listening.

Overall
The courses we do are useful and focused on the industry. We have lots of assignments that offer us the chance to put to practice what we have learnt, but also understand the subject better. The courses overall are well structured and have really passionate teachers.

Pros
Great teachers and you are surrounded with people who are keen to develop their selves and learn more
Cons
There is a housing crisis and students have to pay a lot just to have a roof over their heads.
