“A Creative Journey: My Experience as art student”
Emmanouela A
Greece, Undergraduate
Design (Fashion, Graphic, Industrial, Web), 2024
Overall
Enrolling in the University of West Attica, Graphic Design program has been a transformative and rewarding experience. Over the course of four years, I've developed my creative skills and honed my design acumen. While there are areas for improvement, the program offers a strong foundation for aspiring designers.
Curriculum and Courses: The program's curriculum is comprehensive, covering essential design principles, digital tools, and real-world projects. I appreciated the balance between theory and hands-on practice. However, there could be more focus on emerging design trends and technologies to ensure graduates stay current in the ever-evolving field of graphic design.
Faculty: The professors at the University of West Attica are passionate and knowledgeable about their craft. They are readily available for guidance and feedback. Still, the department could benefit from more diverse perspectives and backgrounds among its faculty to enrich the learning experience.
Resources and Facilities: The university provides access to state-of-the-art design software and well-equipped studios. The library is a treasure trove of design resources. However, some areas could use improvement, like the availability of high-end computers, especially during peak project deadlines.
Internship Opportunities: The university assists students in securing internships, but the selection could be more diverse, and the application process could be more streamlined. A stronger emphasis on networking and industry connections would benefit students looking to kickstart their careers. That's why I am looking here for an internship abroad.
Career Services: While the university has a career services department, their assistance in preparing students for the job market could be more comprehensive. Workshops, resume building, and interview training could be improved to better serve graduates' career prospects.
In conclusion, the University of West Attica Graphic, Graphic Design program offers a robust education for aspiring designers. It equips students with a solid foundation and fosters a strong sense of community and collaboration. While there are areas for improvement, such as faculty diversity and career services, the program provides the tools and knowledge needed to embark on a successful graphic design career. With dedication and a willingness to seek out additional opportunities, students can thrive and grow in this creative and dynamic field.

Overall
Technologiko Ekpedeftiko Idrima - Athinas", which has now been renamed to "University of West Attica", as it has been upgraded from a technological institute to a University back in 2018, is now being certified as a University among the best of the country with the students claiming a higher rank degree. The University is well organized, with contemporary lab equipment, highly qualified professors teaching the lessons and plenty of academical services being available for the students. The University also takes place in plenty of outer activities, encouraging students to become more active citizens, volunteers, better scientists and persons.
