Housing
Type of housing: studio
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: find my own apartment in rome
Why?
the university housing is overpriced. they tell your apartment is going to be 2 to 3 bedrooms with other students with kitchen bathroom living room, and they place you in a tiny studio apartment. like a cave. but some students get placed in the big one, for the same priced that i paid for. terrible service and just wrong.

the housing was small over priced. im italian and was raised in italy, and apartments do not cost that much in rome. i lived right next to san pietro. i could see the pope, and i had a beautiful 3 bedroom apart with 3 roomates, kitchen, family room, and bathroom, and payed nearly nothing compared to the universitys housing price. they lie to you, and take advantage of students who come from other countries to study at there school. beware and make sure they put you in the housing you request for. dont go to the studio apartment. its terrible. the area is nice, but its just wrong to place students in a cave like room for that price.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I like the experience of integrating myself into the society where I'm living. I like to take responsibility for myself and as an artist I feel that I need my own space separate from that of living with a family who may be willing to host me.

Living with other students is OK if you need a boost. I preferred to find my own housing based on my personal financial situation. In all actuality I paid much less than the offered student housing.

We had a beautiful house with 3 bedrooms, two full bathrooms, 3 large balconies, huge family room and kitchen. We loved the area it was in. It was near some great little pizza places and markets, we felt like locals instead of tourists. When i go back to italy i would love to stay in a place like this.

The housing was great. There was always someone to call if we needed help. And tons of people to meet in our apartment

I think you get the 'full' experience living on your own in Rome and I'm sure it's more laidback than living with a family

I guess some people may have had a bad experience because they didn't like the roomates chosen for them or their space was too small (MIKE T AND CHRIS IN THE CAVE!!! BAHAHAH) but I was lucky to get a big house and a backyard with 4 cool roomates VIA LORENZO VALLA!!!!!!

To live in a neighborhood with the rest of the community was the best thing that I could have done. I got the true experience of what it was like to live in a Roman community.

I really enjoyed the way it was set up. They put everyone in individual apartments which you shared with others attending the school. It was really nice.
