I spent more on food because we often ate out a lot in order to try new dishes. I called home more often and used the Internet for studying so our phone bill was high. Housing and nightlife are much cheaper in Spain than in the UK because of the exchange rate. I travelled as much as I would at home, maybe a bit more but again it was cheaper to live and travel in Spain than in the UK. Overall I spent less because I did not have a part time job like I did at home, therefore I did not have as much money. I did work occasionally doing PR but I still did not have as much as I did at home unfortunately!

Take you own bank account with a Spanish bank and buy special telephone card to phone abroad. Please do not forget to bring your identification card of being student. They give you many reductions.

The Country where I live is one of the most expensive in the world. And as a Student, my life in Spain was according to that condition, that s the reason why I was able to get a lot of discounts.

Not many. The only surprise I get was when I had to buy my Interrail Ticket to travel through all Europe, it was cheaper than what I thought. The other cost savings were took into account on that moment, they weren t a surprise.

Items cost less in Spain based on the exchange rate. Travel costs increased just because I traveled all around Europe, taking advantage of already being on the continent.

The best way to purchase things in Spain is to use a credit card, you get much better exchange rates. Never exchange dollars at the airport, the exchange rate is awful.

Mobile phone tarifs are suprisingly expensive. .... If you travel: take the bus and forget about the AVE (speed train which is super expensive)

Life in general was cheaper in Spain. But I spent a bit more on telephone because international calls are more expensive than intern french calls. The travelling expenses were higher because I decided to enjoy that I was there to visit parts of Spain. Moreover, the plain ticket was expensive.
