Because things are so cheap I ended up buying more - dangerous.

As soon as you get to spain start working on your residencs permit if you plan to stay for more than three months. It take AGES.

My spanish was pretty good before coming to Spain, but now I'm almost fluent. I made a big effort to hang out with Spanish students and to live with Spanish people - it is too easy for your social life to centre in the international student circle, you have to make an effort...once I did I was received with open arms. Spanish people are very open.

I've been told that the residencias in Granada have excellent standards.

The best times I had were the botellones in someones house or in placeta somewhere - la Plaza de la Cebolla, close to the Jardines del Triunfo, is my favorite, always full of students, guitars, hippies, dogs...Granada in its essence. My tw favorite bars are la Estrella, close to Plaza Isabel la Catolica, and el Peatón, just off Pedro Antonio. They're more alternative than places like el Flautista and Dulce Vita, more relaxed, and i preferred the music. Cool cafés are el Tren, in Puentezuelas, and La Bohemia, just off Puentezuelas. Great ambiance in both.
