Local supermarkets and restaurants (partuicualrly the tapas bars) tend to be cheaper than at home. Calling home is obviously more expensive but you should buy a Spanish SIM card to communicate with friends in Spain. Housing is generally the same or cheaper. There is a lot going on at night, especially for Erasmus students (more or less from Tuesday - Saturday) but on the plus side alcohol tends to be much cheaper than at home.

Try as many courses as possible in the first few weeks to ensure you study something you're going to enjoy. You usually have around a month until you have to register. Make sure you know how much work you will be expected to do before you register for a course. In some literature courses you will be expected to read as much as Spanish students, which can be up to 11 books a semester!

Murcia was everything I expected and more!

I will always look back on this as one of the best experiences of my life! Without a doubt I would recommend Murcia to any student wanting to experience the typical Erasmus life!
