A forum for buying/selling used furniture and household equipment had been good! Learn to cook and take turns making dinners/lunches with friends. This saves alot of pizza and hamburger expenses!

As a general rule Spain is a cheap country to live in. However, you will pay a lot more in Madrid and Barcelona and in the tourist resorts. Mobile phones costs are probably most expensive than at home. The reason i spent more on travel is because i travelled all over Spain, it is such a beatiful and diverse country one has to do it. Generally travel is far cheaper than Ireland, €0.45 for the bus in Zaragoza and €1.30 in my home city- no comparsion!

Avoid if at all possible opening a bank account in Spain as you must pay a fee to open it and they are very expensive to run thereafter. One can withdraw money when in Spain from their home bank account but talk to your local bank beforehand.
