Bairro Lato neighboorhood is definetely the place to be. Docas is ok, but hardly any POrtuguese would go there. Festa de S Antao in June is a must.

I chose Portugal because I graduated in éOPrtuguese language and Literature in my home Uni. The best way to learn a language is no doubt moving to the place where it's spoken

Final comments
Travelling and housingis not so cheap, if compared to average portugues income. Still, it's very cheap for most Europeans. On the other hand, it's not really worth working there as pay is ridiculous. Best saving up before going or working in home country in between your stay
