About me and my expectations
francisca V
Portugal, Graduate
Dentistry, 2019
Overall
My name is Francisca Lopes Pereira Amaral Vieira, I’m 22 years old and I’m currently studying Dentistry in Faculdade de Medicina Dentária da Universidade do Porto, in Oporto, Portugal.
I consider myself a communicative and sociable person. I'm organized, responsible, hardworking, committed and have leadership skills.
I have always planned to spend some time abroad during my studies.
With the Erasmus experience I improve my written and spoken English language skills, meet new people, get to know a new culture and, hopefully, open new horizons in my personal and professional life. Meanwhile I become more aware about cultural differences among different peoples and I develop tolerance and respect towards those peoples ‘differences, by working in international teams and contacting with worldwide students. Having the chance to merge in a diverse working atmosphere I can get in touch with diverse working methods and learn with them while letting the others know about procedures in my country and university. Sharing ideas and practices will be an asset I would like to acquire.
At the same I am glad to let the community know about my own culture through different means.
Many employers appreciate the fact of studying in another country, and that could become a key element in my resume.
The experience I could gain during a semester with your internship would definitely be a valuable tool for the future, not only in terms of my academic formation but also for my personal growth.
For all this, I would like to do an internship in dentistry field at your university or clinic. I am sure that I will learn a lot and will have a unique opportunity in my life.

Try to learn a few portuguese phrases before you go, travel is quite cheap so when you have free time (and you should have a lot of it) explore Portugal, it's a beautiful country.

My experience at Porto
Giuseppe W
Portugal,
Language, 2023
Overall
I had the opportunity to study in porto for 4 years, having done 1 year in sociology and now finishing my course in Languages, Literature and Culture. Although the experience at a university is influenced by many things even at a personal level, It's my opinion that the general setting of the university of porto is positive in many ways. On one hand the teachers in general are interested not in just giving us the information to pass but giving us the tools to get there by ourselves, making it sometimes less direct way of learning but at the end a more rewarding one. I enjoyed most of the course but I believe some classes should have had more emphasis and I saw there content as important.

The examination throughout the semester is very useful and gives you time for everything (like having fun, travel and study in the same time). The continuous need for study helps you to accumulate important information and the quality of teaching is high. I remained with great knowledge about the worldwide economic environment after 6 months within the university.

Everyone should join Erasmus Scholarships all over the world! It opens your mind, your soul, your future, your perspectives. It will definetly change your life and your expectations in a way you don't even realize it before going! It's the best way to describe a student life with great future goals both from a career perspective and personal objectives. Go for it, don't even ask yourself if you should try it or not! Erasmus is one of the little things that you don't need to think about it before actually do it. It can't be bad! I am very thanksful for the people I have met in 6 months and for the things that everyone taught me!

Take care of your bag in downtown and Ribeira, there are lot of thiefes. Never buy bus tickets in the bus,it´s more expensive (double price). There is a student festival in may, called Queima das Fitas, that is really amaizing.
