Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
I believe that on campus students have a better opportunity to know and live with people from other different cultures. Also, it is a good opportunity to put our communication, cooperation and social skills to the test. However, universities in Milan are poor in terms of accommodation offer and conditions.

Personal comments
There was no kind of accomodation at this university. It only provided personal help to find appartments for students to rent. In this area, i believe that, taking in account the difficulty of renting a house in italian big cities as Milan, the university had an important and valuable role near students.

Personal spending habits
Why spent more because the cost of life was more expensive in Milan compared to Lisbon and, also because the milan lifestyle forces international students to spent more if they wish to participate in the social activities that dominate the city.

Cost-saving tips: go to international events'nights or "aperitivi" to save money in meals and nightlife. Get the "tessera blu" at the "CUS" in the several Milan universities in order to get discounts in sports' activities.

Personal recommendation
My special recommendation is for the university to organize more events to international students, but not temporary events. Intensive events, with a duration of some days or weeks in order to allow students to get to know eachother better since they cannot do it through on campus accommodation for example.

Final comments
travel tips: in order to travel inside Italy at lower prices you may do the "Carta Verde" at ATM offices. Also, it is advisable that one that goes to study in Italy for some months to learn before a bit of italian because most of the times italians refuse or do not know how to speak english.

Academic
Course recommendations
Courses could provide for more interaction between students (whether local or international) by demanding workgroups, students' presentations. Also, more seminars could be organized in order to present more of the italian reality to students, by introducing them to italian companies and so on.
