There was a good experience, plenty of Erasmus students, and others!!! On June, about 30 Americans arrived to the Hall-of-residence. Also, the university restaurant was only a 50 meters. The room was a double one, so I have to share it with another student (it would be great but he was Spanish too and we cannot learn more italian) Hall-of-Residence is a great and economic choice if it's the first time you go to Messina.

Piazza Duomo. Outside Messina Cathedral, on Spring people starts to go to this place, near there is a bar called "Safari", economic and various beers. I liked very much "Otis" pub, with normal people playing instruments. About coffe, are you going in Italy?? so you go to the coffe country, Arcobaleno cafe has one of the best coffe I never tasted: GRANITA RULEZ!!! On summer, search time to go to beach

It was amazing how a Spanish can learn Italian in five months, if you want to learn Italian (and you are Spanish) you only have to start to talk and talk and talk, but also Spanish make the greatest mistakes when they speak Italian.

Personal spending habits
Food and accomodation: living in Hall-of-Residence and eating in University restaurant is cheaper than any other choice, when I went it cost 1 euro each lunch and 1 euro each dinner. Accomodation: 75 euro monthly!!! Telephone: I had less people to call (only family). When I bought a cellular phone I began to spend a little more. Overall: Travelling and nightlife is not economic and... these are the things I'd ever love.

Personal recommendation
It's a good university regarding to academic studies. There aren't a lot of Erasmus students, so you'll improve your skills in Italian quickly. Also there's the possibility of doing the exams in English. Maybe you'll be shocked by Sicilian culture. Don't mind Mafia, there is but you cannot see it.

Final comments
To arrive Messina you can go to Catania airport or Reggio Calabria airport, but don't go to Palermo airport cause is very far from Messina.
