Other sources of funding:

An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
Food in general is more expensive, and obviously with being so far away you spend more on travel and phone bills. Innsbruck was quite quiet on a night so I didn't spend as much as I would at home.

Personal comments
Using cash machines to withdraw money from an account at home ends up costing a fortune, so it is worth opening a bank account there, despite the linguistic stress it can cause. Internet banking was a life saver though, and HSBC were usually happy to ring me back if I needed to call them. Internet was provided in my halls of residence for free, along with a phone, although we did receive a bill for this at the end of the semester.

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice

Personal recommendation
The University is really nice, in geography there is a fantastic athmosphere. I talked with many other erasmus friends (I meet around 200..) and everyone told me they didn't have such a good relationship with the local students as I did. They are very helpful, and we make a lot of excursions (about 4 days each one), that helps to get to know better the other students.

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
The quality of teachers is quite good, the atmosphere the same. The city is not the best for nightlife but it's good, enough for a year in erasmus (I missed some bars..) You cannot miss the ski in winter, and to walk in the mountains in summer. Go to as many parties as you can, to meet more people. But don't forget the studies. Very important is to travel a lot, not in the beginning of Erasmus but from February till July I visited more that 10 countries...for a portuguese every country seems to be near!

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I like living in a flat or apartment with friends more than living in a residence with plenty of students. there is more independence and comfort by living in a flat

I have nothing negative to say. The accomodation was very good. however there was not a place or room where all the students of the residence could be together to watch tv or smth. like that.

In general the housing provided by Wist was good however i heard stories about others who experienced difficulties with the organisation. My location was in a perfect location, only five minutes from the university however i shared a kitchen with about thirty people which wasnt so pleasant.
