everybody was prepared to give international students a chance to practice their german. Having lived in germany before hand i was comfortable speaking german and my experience in austria only improved my confidence in conversing through german.

In Tyrol dialect is widely spoken, but the more you talk to native speakers the more familiar you become.

The Austrian dialect can be a bit tricky at first but you get used to it really quickly. People in general are really friendly and willing to speak to you in german, even if you are struggling.
