I wish I had known...
Don't try to take tough classes in a forgeign language/abroad- you need time to experience culture and travel. Also, try to emerse yourself, it's easy to find people of the same culture, but that's not what you're there for. Put yourself out there.

Ifyou want to work as a translater, I recommend you do your studies at this university. I wanted to be a translator, so I went there. The teachers are very good and the courses that are proposed there are really good if you want to improve your writing skills. Unfortunately, speaking skills are not a big priority, so you have to put in a lot of personal work if you want to get better.

Overall
I studies Chinese as my bachelor’s degree and I loved it. My teachers were French, Chinese and taiwanese and all were very professional. I recommend this bachelor’s in LLCE in Chinese Language and Civilization to anyone interested in learning Chinese and their culture. I also got a chance to go to China for 6 months during my studies.
