Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Although living with a family provides you with more immersion in the language and Québec culture, living in the university residences has the benefits of being closer to essential facilities and the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people.

Recommended! I stayed in Pavillon Agathe-Lacerte which was an all-girls residence. Most international students stay in Pavillon Alphonse-Marie-Parent, and while the rooms are not as nice as in Lacerte, the kitchen facilities are excellent, as is the atmosphere. (That is if you prefer a little more liveliness!)

The on-campus accomodation at the Universite Laval offers unlimited opportunities to meet people from different cultures and, as a consequence, to appreciate diversity. In addition, and as I have pointed out before, the building was always clean and properly maintained. Security personnel ensured the peaceful living of the students.

Leaving on campus was a great opportunity to meet people and get involved in the student life. The PEPS (sport center) and the mall are very closed from the hall of residence. Bus will drive you to city center for 2.5$ and 15 minutes.

Hall of résidence is great. You'll never feel alone. Stayin there for 8 months is OK but get ready to feel a lack of privacy ! Rooms are Spartan. Most of the people handle it. Anyway, Kitchens are the best place to meet people when u arrive !

Type of housing: first I lived in a students residence, than I moved
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The students' residence are too big and too anonymous, there are no cosy places; so I was right to move to an appartment, which I shared with 2 native speakers

I shared the appartment with 5 Canadians, so it was a great opportunity to discover the canadian culture and to enhance my linguistic qualifications. It was a good experience and I would love to do this again.

I don't like to live at the student residence because I don't want to share my bathroom with more than 3 persons.
