Belgians are quite reserved people, as most of francophones, so you are expected to speak the most of your French with other foreign students. If you have the oporunity, make "interchange" of languages in order to improove your language and meet people.

French speakers, no matter if they┤re belgians, french or wathever, are not very opened to foreigners, specially to the ones who don┤t speak well their language, so if you manage to have many local friends, think that that is not the usual thing.

At the beginning it was very hard to communicate in french, but it was getting better every day at university. The problem was that the most we - the Erasmus people - spoke English, because some did't understand french.

It was a very good experience for my education also becasue I think that foreign languages, English in particular, are fundamental today if you want to find a good work. at the end, i think that to know and speak foreign languages can help you to understand the other cultures

I didn't have big problems about communication. There were a lot of people from Spain, so sometimes it was difficult to speak in the local language.

Learning french was one of the most important aspects in my choice of coming in Brussels. I can say that I'm really satisfied about that. My level when I arrived was not specially good and now I'm capable of talking about anything. I'm really happy with my evolution.
