The accomadation was appauling. I was advised beforehand not to reside there by my home university. It was dirty, small and not well maintained.

The Latin Quarter- The Hideout Irish pub, where the local barmen drink till 5 O' clock in the morning on weekends. Sens Sens near the Bastille was a favourite and of course pub Saint Michel for some late night kareoke after work in the bar.

Buy a monthly metro ticket or indeed a carte imaginaire if you plan to stay for the year. Arrange your accomadation before arriving.

I completely immersed myself in the french language and hung around mainly with French people. The fact that i worked in a local bar all year round perfected my command of slang and informal discourse.
