I do not have a special recommendation. Everybody experiences an exchange in a different way and you cannot satisfy everybody. So this university did his bst for the international studnets.

France is a beautiful country, you really have to see it. There are good facilities for students to travel, e.g. discounts, hostel information etc. And you have to realise that you are lucky you can do an exchange, you have to profit of it, you learn a lot of a country and yourself and you will never forget it, and sometimes you make friends for life.

The town is big enough to keep you entertained for a year, the french people are on the whole very welcoming and we had a great erasmus equipe of about 100 people.

Living in town you don't need a car, but to explore the region (which is stunning) you do need your own transport. However for longer journeys the trains are very good- especially if you book well enough in advance to get 50% discount. My main advice would be to remember that you're not the most important group of people at university in terms of enrolement and timetabling. Just be aware of what's going on and try to find a french student to help you out after they've sorted themselves out.

I wish I had known...
actually I knew that I would ave been placed in a very dangerous and uncomfortable place, but if I only I had known it in june and not in september, maybe I would have found a flat near the university and I would have gone out more frequently...

I'm very sorry that the problem of accomodation has conditioned the whole experience; because of the horrible location of my flat, I haven't had the opportunity of living completely my erasmus experience...

Supportive lecturers, great program and organization.

Overall
I'm currently in my third year at Université de Franche-Comté and overall I can only say positive things about it.  Not being a native French speaker, I had no problem getting used to the courses and student life, as the University and the people of the city of Besancon in general are very accommodating and ready to help. The professors are very supportive and take the time to talk with you after the courses if you have any problems.

The organisation of courses online during the pandemic is also impeccable, the professors had no problems arranging themselves with the technology required.

Student life is filled with activities. Now of course, those activities have been limited, but there are a great number of events for students to get to know each other, to make connections for their future career and to enjoy their life on campus.

I am really glad I chose to study at Université de Franche-Comté and to live in Besancon.

Overall
The university is well organized and most of the courses are interesting.

The teachers are generally very involved, which make the entire course very attractive.

The amount of homework was very important, which means that you have to organize your time wisely, but generally I am satisfied with this major and this university.
