If you're a student, you have to go abroad, you have to plan everything a little bit but it's a great experience and the best way to learn the language. You will become more independant and you learn a lot about yourself. Tip: Go a lot to the movies, afterwards stay in contact with some people to write Emails and letters, so you never forget the language... For your room or apartement you recieve money from the french governement, ask the student organisation AEMI, they help you. The first day you are in Metz you have to register in the office of the town, I forgot about this, but ask your tutor at your host university, it's important to go!!

My experience
Jade D
France, Graduate
Language, 2022
Overall
Very convenient and comfortable university: there is a library/computer room (small but lots of books, almost always open), a coffee room with microwave and a university library (very rich, good remote control/consultation facility) across the street.
The organization of the administration is sometimes a bit stressful, but never to the point of causing serious problems. The staff listens well and remains very available.
From Master 1 on, it is easy to find student jobs on campus or to get newsletters from teachers to apply.

Doing translation studies in this university helped me realize my potential. The teachers and everyone around the academic staff here helped me grasp the current situation of the industry, thanks to all of them I also learned what is required to succeed in this field of work thanks to their methods.

LEA in Metz
Lou-Anne A
France, Undergraduate

Overall
I'm a French student in LEA (langues etrangères appliquée).
The fields studied in this bachelor's degrees are very large so if you're kind of lost with what you want to do in your career this could be a good option.
Since we learn foreign languages we often welcome students from all over the world. wich mean a lot of diversity and interesting people here.
An about the campus, it's old but the university library is nice.

I wish I had known...
Language was really a barrier; limiting you in every area. English was useless at most points.

City's geographic location makes it ideal for traveling, wheather abroad or just to plain old Paris. It takes 80 min.s to Paris with bullet train. And also because of its historical background, in every little village it's possible to find some ruins.
