Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why?
I lived in a studio apartment by myself, so French interaction was not common at my home. If I lived with a family, French interaction would have been more present in my daily activities.

Personal comments
The University provided many opportunities for finding accomodations once I arrived in Strasbourg. They also had utility companies present on campus to set up new accomodations.

The course of study that I followed was varied and interesting - try to study things not done before. The academic set up can be complicated and if wanting to change modules, just make sure there are the right amount of credits.

Get a restau-U card straight away because it is cheap and practical to eat in them and get a carte de culture for cinema etc. Buy a second-hand bicycle because there are many bike routes all over the city and into the country. Also get a carte 12-25 for train travel.

Personal comments
As an Erasmus student I found the academic system complicated and I ended up doing a mix of courses in English and French which I wasn't really meant to do but it worked well in the end and fulfilled my european credit commitments. I felt the four hour, one question written exams to be excessive and felt that they weren't a good way of examining us.

Course recommendations
Don't try to take courses that are above your level. Many people took third year courses because they were in their third year at their home university, then found the courses were too difficult. The professors of the smaller courses tended to be more accomodating of international students.
