it's a great challenge, however the academic situation wasn't that impressive. That would probably be due mostly in part to the UB being an urban campus and having a large student population. Cultural differences also factored in to an extent.

The university offers a well enough program, I would not choose to study there one more longer, but the city is appealing

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I find it nice to share an apartment. We were 4 persons. There are always people to talk to and moreover it gives you cultural insight which is hard to get if you live on your own.

buy your food at lidl or dia, restaurants are (better) and cheaper in the not so very touristic parts of town. Go eating around 13:30 at these little restaurants, then a meal (3 plate dishes + 1 drink) costs only 7 to 8 euro. On some days entry to musea is free.

It was interesting for sure! I went because I had a great desire to become as fluent as possible in Spanish. However, Barcelona is a bit different since the main language around town is Catalan. Then to make things worse I lived with a sister and brother who spoke Gallego at home. Everyone would speak to me in Castellano (Spanish), but it made for an interesting language experience. I studied hard and, since I have a good ear, learned a lot. The only strange thing is that I was so obsessed with learning the language I may have given myself a complex. Now almost five years later my Spanish is MUCH better because I have kept up with my studies and I have much more confidence.
