If you come, you can choose between courses of the 4th and 5th year. In the 5th year, there is no design project in the 2nd semester! You may do the 4th year design project with stéphane Beel. If you like urban design, go to the 4th year right away. If you like detailling, go to the 5th year in the 2nd semester. Oral exams can mostly be also made in English. The lessons are normally in Dutch, so a tiny bit of Dutch may help. Olmost everyone speaks English and French fluently which is extremely helpful. Never be afraid to ask since courses may be changed quickly by the staff.

The department is very small. There are -up to now- no real possibilities to choose from (But that's supposed to change). Many Belgian students are veryoung and very shy at first, but I met a lot of really nice and funny people.

There should be more courses that are both for Erasmus and Dutch students since as I noticed the interaction with local students could be of a great advantage and I missed it many times.

The language center was not so good. Because we studied French, and the other students were Flemish students, so the course wasn't especially for foreign students.

You should eliminate that you must pass all the subjects to end succesfull the year. Belgian students are suffering!! But for erasmusstudents, this isn't a problem.

only few English courses were available for choosing

more interacions. the comunication between the local students should be improved. people speak good English but still preffer their native language

it is very difficult to take a course that is not taught in English because their are no lectures, which means that days are not structured and it is hard to grasp the course. also, there is practically no teacher/other student contact, which i think is an important aspect of student life that you miss out on.

greater liaison is needed btween departmental staff and prospective students, so that a clear idea of what is going to be studied is established before you arrive. also, i do not think that the libraries are very efficient, as it is sometimes very difficult to locate the books you need, which can be quite stressful at times. the best advice is to be very organised all the time!

I will suggest that teachers be more available to students;And help solve some student problems;And give advice to the students on what is expected of them.
