if it is not really necessary, choose only one course in the first block and travel around and have fun. (you only can choose two courses by block, but these are hard mostly). Shopping in Aachen is cheaper. Den Haag, Brussel and Cologne are great.

I wish I had known...
I wish I had packed better for the cold wet Netherlands weather. Don't casually take any econometrics classes - the are pretty much doctorate level.

An incredible international experience. Though I learned little about the Netherlands per se, I met people from all around the world, and continue to keep in contact with some of my best friends from my time at Maastricht. The schoolwork is tough, but the presentation and writing projects gave me valuable practical experience. The school also had quite a good reputation, especially for economics and econometrics.

Housing
Type of housing: Residence for international students
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It allows you to get a different point of wiew of the city and of how living there is. (Different perspective).

Personal comments
The best of the Residence (Gest House) was the social life there. Almost all the residents were exchange students, so living there permitted to get to know easily a lot of people from other coutries. I made a lot of friends there. The bad point was the price; excessive for the services offered (shared bathrooms and kitchens, no restaurant or cafeteria, no free access to the sport faccilities...).

Housing
Type of housing: Guesthouse of the Universiteit Maastricht
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Guesthouse of the Universiteit Maastricht
Why?
Because even though the prices for the rooms are quite high the social aspect of living close to a lot of other exchange students is only given when living in the guesthouse. Otherwise it is far more difficult to get to know other people.

Personal comments
Great atmosphere among exchange students, good leisure time facilities (Tennis courts, ...) but housing prices in the Netherlands are generally higher compared to Austria and the management of the guesthouse knows that exchange students are dependent on their services.

Personal comments
in fact i have chosen Maastricht because i had some knowlegde in Dutch, actuallly, more than everyday kknoowledge. I decided to go in the Netherlands to improve my knowledge in Dutch in the everyday life and to improve my English in my academic life. In fact, i only spoke English, except with some dutch student, because i lived with exchange students and all my courses were given in English. It was quite the same for the eveyday life because most of people can speak english (in the shops,...)
