Generally the transport is very expensive, also is Holland nothing is free! you have to pay for everything, for using the toilet, for the plastic bags from the supermarket, for everything. But Maastricht is a very good place to travel from there, so close to Germany, France, Luxembourg and Belgium, and with ryanair or vbirb by plane, puff, perfect.

It's better the ABN-Amro bank because of the customer service, they are nicer than in the others. By the way, the shops close at 6 pm from Monday to Friday except on Thursday (9 pm), on Monday open at 1 pm, and on Saturdays close at 5 pm. On Wednesdays and Fridays morning there is a market about food, the only place to find fresh fish that I discovered, etc. Two shops more in direction to the left from the Chiken Kentucky (come se llame) in the Market square there is a Chinese shop and there you can find phone cards to call abroad, inside of Europe it's about 12 euros for 300 minutes.

well, first of all at home i lived with my parents, so i didn't have to pay for food, or housing; and second, because i went out much more often while abroad, prices were higher, i traveled everytime i could, and i had to make international phone calls constantly, things that i very randomly did at home.

Everything is double or triple what I pay for at home. That is, however, due to the economic situation in my country of origin and were I from any other European state, I would have not had any financial problems.

Aldi is just around the corner of the Guesthouse. Don't withdraw money from the ATMs when from a home bank - make sure you make an account with the local ones.

Buy a bike, is the best investment, is only 50 euros, and then you can forget about transportation costs. Buy a discount card at the trains station if you wanna travel a lot. The cheapest market is ALDI.

The basic cost of living is higher in Holland than China. The biggest cost is accommodation - occupied almost half of my monthly expenses here. Food is expensive too than in China, especially if you want to go to Chinese restaurant and buy Chinese ingredients for cooking at home.

Well housing is generally a little bit more expensive in the Netherlands. When it comes to food it depends on the quality you chose. Expenditures for travelling are higher as most of the exchange students try to travel as much as possible during week ends! Compared to the very costly Clubs in Vienna and the prices for drinks in the city center of Vienna in general - going out in Maastricht is cheaper than in Vienna.

Exchange semesters are generally expensive but in most of the cases worth the financial burden, as the experiences you gain are unforgettable and priceless.
