“Economics and business bachlor”
LUDOVIC H
Belgium,
Economics, 2023
Overall
Maastricht University is widely recognized for its exceptional educational approach, centered around Problem-Based Learning (PBL). At the core of PBL, students actively participate in small group discussions, analyzing real-world problems and taking ownership of their learning. This dynamic and interactive method, coupled with a strong interdisciplinary focus, equips students with critical thinking skills and prepares them for real-world challenges.

The university, in the business part, have a mandatory study abroad instead of an internship which is great to experience new cultures and meet new horizons before going into the professional work.

“Bachelor in European Studies at Maastricht University”
Matilde G
Italy,
European Studies, 2023
Overall
I recently graduated from a Bachelor in European Studies at Maastricht University. My journey in Maastricht was mind-opening given the great amount of international students that attend the university. We had the opportunity to study 'a bit of everything' especially during the second year and this really gave me the opportunity to understand what I like and what I do not enjoy studying.

I wish I had known...
You can't know everything before going, it's a learning experience!

In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Courses were quite a lot of work for many students I talked to, so you should be prepared that you can't party all the time if you want to bring home decent grades. Or choose not too many courses!

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
This campus has 4 different buildings very big, so in total can live around 600 people. That's the best, because all the parties, friends and cultures are there. The distance from the center is only 5 minutes by bike. To the University as well, or 20 minutes walking. From the Medicine faculty is farer (15 or 20 minutes by bike), but the Guesthouse in Majella is too small, and the others too, so go to the Main Guest House in Brouwersweg 100. The best international home in my life!!!

Personal comments
The Main Guest House is ok, there are place to play tennis and basketball, but you have to pay for the raquets and balls, so carry yours. Every working day the cleaning ladies go and they clean the communal kitchens and bathrooms together with the showers, pretty good. By the way, about your lease, you cannot take it off days, for example, if you think to leave in the middle of June, do it until the beginner of June, later you can add days for sure, and it's better than to loose the money, because you pay for sure every day that your lease says.

“Great University Experience”
Jasmijn v
Netherlands,
Biology, 2023
Overall
With my study, MSP, it allowed me to choose my own courses completely from the second semester in the first year. This allowed me to find myself and become a multidisciplinary student. While my main focus always remained biology, I was also able to gain experience in programming and other fields, which is not as easily possible in other studies.

Careers
For my thesis, the study gave many different opportunities for internships to write the thesis which helped me greatly. It gave options of internship both within the university and outside.

Personal spending habits
Generally the transport is very expensive, also is Holland nothing is free! you have to pay for everything, for using the toilet, for the plastic bags from the supermarket, for everything. But Maastricht is a very good place to travel from there, so close to Germany, France, Luxembourg and Belgium, and with ryanair or vbirb by plane, puff, perfect.

Personal comments
It's better the ABN-Amro bank because of the customer service, they are nicer than in the others. By the way, the shops close at 6 pm from Monday to Friday except on Thursday (9 pm), on Monday open at 1 pm, and on Saturdays close at 5 pm. On Wednesdays and Fridays morning there is a market about food, the only place to find fresh fish that I discovered, etc. Two shops more in direction to the left from the Chiken Kentucky (come se llame) in the Market square there is a Chinese shop and there you can find phone cards to call abroad, inside of Europe it's about 12 euros for 300 minutes.
