I wish I had known...
Don't think about home too much. For the first few weeks/months, it can be very hard to get settled if you're always thinking about your friends back home.

Strongly. However, I would have preferred if this university had been in another city. Cork is nice, but I had a lot more fun in Belfast.

When you travel, go places that are off the beaten path. Dublin is fine, but also go to Galway and Belfast. And definitely do the Ring of Kerry.

I had very good time, I suggest to everybody to have an experience like the erasmus project. I suggest also to go in Ireland, the people are very gentle and it is possible to meet people of many other culture.

Take the baggage limitations of your airline seriously! We did not and had to pay at the airport.

Political Science is somehow an "exotic" subject at UCC (emphasis on the natural sciences). As mentioned above: don't stick to the European Studies department and inspect the programmes of the other departments as well. The International Student Office at UCC is quite flexible with regard to the wishes of Erasmus-students.

Place you HAVE to go to: Killarney, Dingle, Galway, Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle (Kiss the stone!), Cobh. UCC offers a relaxing atmosphere for your stay as an international student. Enjoy the time there! If you want to get into some media stuff, apply for an internship with Cork Campus Radio. You will be selected on the basis of an application form and an interview with the station manager. You'll learn a lot and it is great fun! (Say hello to Kieran, he is one of the fulltime staff there.) Search for the computer labs in the Food Science Building. They usually have the best machines and fastest internet access. If somebody of the staff is asking, just pretend to be a student at the department. Be careful with Cork's hairdressers!
