Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The suites that we were housed in were a bit sterile, and they lacked character. However, I did get the opportunity to live with Irish students, rather than solely with American students, and that was a big plus.

The facilities were fine, but the suites were farther from the center of town than I would have liked.

The Western Star is kinda fun, but only every once in a while. I enjoyed places like the Iso Bar more, however.

I wish I had known...
Don't think about home too much. For the first few weeks/months, it can be very hard to get settled if you're always thinking about your friends back home.

Personal recommendation
Strongly. However, I would have preferred if this university had been in another city. Cork is nice, but I had a lot more fun in Belfast.

Final comments
When you travel, go places that are off the beaten path. Dublin is fine, but also go to Galway and Belfast. And definitely do the Ring of Kerry.

Take the bus when you travel! It covers more of the country, and it's pretty cheap with an ISIC card.

Personal comments
There was no language barrier (aside from colloquial expressions and such), so it was not an issue. I did get a chance to learn basic Modern Irish, though, which was fun.
