Personal spending habits
Food and accomodation are definitely more expensive in England than in Germany; I did not travel or telephone much and had no own email-account in my house to pay; Nightlife is as well more expensive (often 5 pound entry e.g.) than here and normally you go out more than at home.

Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
My English is a lot better than before. The language of the country and university are the same, what gave me the chance to concentrate on it. At the beginning it is really hard to get into the texts, if your english is as bad as mine at the beginning, but the teachers normally accept that and are considerate.

Final comments
If you want to fly to Bristol, you should take a flight to Heathrow and than go by coach-bus. Its cheaper and less! complicated. You should only know at what station you should leave the coach-bus, but this problem you also have, if you fly to Bristol and than have to get a bus to town.
A notebook is very helpful. Working at the computers at the library is a little bit annoying. For email perfect because cheap, but for whole essays not a good choice.

Academic
Course recommendations
No. It depends on your interests and normally you can ask for a change of course. Some did and whether you think a teacher or course is good you can't know before.

Interaction with local students
Personal comments
Concerning international students it may make sense to be able to attend graduate-seminars, because it is more similar to the way of studying here. It makes a great difference whether you are trained for a job or for academic purposes and the former is the aim of an undergrate study in England.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
You're able to learn to know other students but are at the same time independent (own room, without duty to adapt to a families way of life).

There is an accomodation-meeting in August before the term, where you can choose other new students to live with and find a house. The adress of my accomodation I found by hints of the student, who went to Bristol the year before. I did not know the persons, with whom I lived together then, so it was luck that it worked very well.
