I wish I had known...
My friends (guys) had a discussion about what was more unpredictable the glasgow weather ot women, they settled for women. Glasgow weather is in a class of its own.. Scotland has a very strong identity of its own. Its more different from england than you would think.

I had an amazing time. People asked me beforehand why on eartch I would go to glasgow and not edinburgh... I dont regret it for a second... The city is a bit industrial but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Great place, great people. I will definitely go back to scotland again.

Interesting and international univsersity

United Kingdom, Undergraduate
Economics, 2023
Overall
The university is a very interesting place to study. Many of the lecturers and students are from overseas, which is great, if you like travelling and getting to know other cultures! It is a big university, which means there are many clubs and societies and lots of ways to meet new people. However, sometimes this means the classes can be very big.

Did not receive any information from the University of Glasgow on how and when I should apply for the university accomodation. In the beginning of August 2002 I called the Accomodation Office and the International Office at the University of Glasgow and they told me that I should have applied for university accomodation before the end of July 2002. They told me to send my application by fax and I did that. Started to call the Accomodation Office every week and finally they found a twin room for me. I had to share the room (big!) with a Spanish girl. At first I was a bit nervous about sharing a room with a person that I did not know but everything went fine and we never had any problems with each other. The student appartement was for four persons and a Chinese girl and a Brittish girl was also living there. The house was an old beautiful victorian house and it was close to the university.

It is a great university. Honor courses are small: a maximum of about 2o people, which makes learning much more enjoyable.

Do not take an umbrella. It rains nearly everyday and it is too windy at times for one. You will get used to the rain in no time. And if you don't, take your depression to the pub and everything should turn out fine.

The accomodation at the University of Glasgow is very well provided for people coming for more than 6 months. A period of study of one or more years or a Master are recommended to find the best accomodation, possibly starting from september. The University offers a lot of campus flats and apartaments to be shared among students with all comforts. Life is agreeable and nice, so you can fully enjoy your staying in Glasgow
