Speaking and Understanding Ehglish was no problem at all, as I have been learning the language for more than 10 years. Except for some black people rarely anyone spoke slang.

If you want to get to know the Midwest-way-of-life - go there! If you want to get to know to a fancy, metropolitan city - go to another place. The US-Midwest is really really different. But definitely an experience.
