If you have a cell phone you are going to spend more money there because its very expensive to make even a local phone call. Texting is also about 20 cents per text, and everyone does it all the time! Traveling was cheaper there than here, but I did more of it there obviously, so I spent more on it. It costs more for a beer there and we tended to go out more there. Also you have to pay for a cab every night which isn't cheap.

What I learned was to follow how much the dollar was compared to the Euro, and would take out money when the exchange rate seemed to be doing well. Also I saved money by buying food at the shop rather than eating out when I travelled.

Most of your money will be spent in night life (drinks, admission tickets and taxies). I advise to save on food and clothes.

Not to buy in the small shops of the campus (unless emergency), but in the supermakets or in the market city. Ask the local people.

It is a good idea to open a bank account in AIB or Bank of Ireland. There are interesting offers for University of Limerick students. ISIC card is useful to get travel discounts as well.
